It might seem like just a lively and agile child. However, such children, besides excessive energy, are extremely restless, aggressive, unable to concentrate on any task, have poor memory retention, and perform poorly in reading, writing, and thinking.
Hyperactivity is a common pathology
According to statistics, up to 10% of children under the age of 12 are prone to this pathology, with boys being its victims three times more often than girls for some reason. It is noted that the condition has two peaks: at 6 years old, when a child crosses the threshold of school, and at 12, with the onset of puberty and hormonal changes in the body. If qualified help is not sought, then in 80% of cases, an adult will continue to suffer from the manifestations of this syndrome as before. The medical problem turns into a social one.
Why does hyperactivity syndrome occur?
Researchers identify several reasons that trigger the onset of ADHD.
These include:
– difficult pregnancy;
– birth complications;
– genetic predisposition;
– emotional stress in the family, such as suppressed aggression or prolonged stress in one of the parents;
– childhood infectious diseases.
It is clear that attention deficit hyperactivity disorder in children requires treatment. While medications are prescribed in Western countries, our doctors have found other approaches to relieving a child of hyperactivity. Special methodologies have been developed, which are successfully used at the Soul & Body center.
How to recognize hyperactivity in a child?
A child with ADHD:
– is unable to self-organize;
– a hyperactive child may wave their hands, make faces;
– has sleep disturbances;
– cannot stick to one topic in conversation;
– feels anxious;
– does not get along well with others;
= does not respond to regular educational measures.
Although attention deficit hyperactivity disorder is most often diagnosed in younger schoolchildren, this condition can often be noticed even in infants who have not yet reached one year of age.
Symptoms of hyperactivity in children under one year:
– dislike for swaddling, a desire to “break free”;
– chaotic movements with limbs, head;
– crying, tantrums, screaming;
– early development of sitting, crawling, walking.
If you notice these symptoms in your child, do not delay a visit to the doctor. The sooner the problem is identified, the faster and more successful you will learn how to deal with the baby, and the better they will be able to fit into the accepted framework of behavior and normalize relationships with themselves and others.
Never diagnose on your own, and even more so – do not administer pills. Consultation with a pediatrician, psychiatrist, neurologist, and psychoneurologist is necessary. It is entirely possible that you just have a clever child, and there is no hyperactivity anywhere near.
How is hyperactivity diagnosed in children?
Since the condition is specific, it is not surprising that diagnosing it from the threshold is not possible. Clinics developed such a methodology for identifying ADHD in 1994. To make a diagnosis, the child’s behavior is observed for six months. They talk to them, interview parents and teachers, and conduct tests. Most likely, laboratory tests and tomograms will be required. Examination will help exclude other diseases that have similar symptoms.
Treatment for attention deficit hyperactivity disorder
The process of freeing a child from this pathology is quite complex and lengthy. While in the West they have long figured out how to treat hyperactivity in a child and prescribe medication therapy, our doctors know other effective techniques.
The child’s energy needs to be directed “in a peaceful direction.” Physical education in its various forms is excellent for this. The main thing is for the excess energy to come out and for the child to sleep soundly.
In addition, psychotherapists work with the child, the schoolchild undergoes psycho-pedagogical correction. Also, work with an osteopath and massage allow harmonizing the child’s condition by relieving spasms and improving the circulation of cerebrospinal fluid.
Autogenic training, meditations, hypnosis, visual relaxations help reduce heart rate, relieve irritation and anxiety, reduce adrenaline release, and improve mental and physical balance.
At the Soul & Body center, they know how to treat hyperactivity in children. We also help parents master the art of dealing with a hyperactive child at home. Additional work with parents allows creating a matrix of health for the child.
With proper treatment, hyperactive children become calmer by the age of 14, and by the time of graduation, their behavior and social skills normalize.
